Global Warming/Climate Change

Published by bridgette at 1:13 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

First of all, I do believe that climate change is happening, no argument there.

My question is - how much is actually being caused by man, and how much is the natural cycle of the earth. The earth has gone through a major ice age approximately every 20,000 years since it first formed. We are now reaching the time when the next ice age is due. And yet, somehow people don’t believe this could be a natural cycle, everything that’s happening is because of us. Personally, I think a lot of the hoopla is mankind’s ego. We’re here now, so the earth can’t do anything without our input.

And stop saying “this is a proven fact because the earth is warmer than it was 100 years ago. You can’t prove or disprove something that lasts for 20 or 30,000 years based on records kept for 100. That’s like saying because I ate something in the last minute, all I do all day is eat. If someone can show me actual proof that we have caused this, then I’ll listen.

Yes, use of fossil fuels is polluting the air, but the only thing that’s really being destroyed by that is us. More people are suffering from cancers, lung diseases, and other environmental diseases. We’re killing off mankind, not the earth. The earth generally can take care of itself, seen any dinosaurs around lately.

I’m also getting very tired of people like Al Gore, who flies around the world in his private plane, lecturing about how everyone else is destroying the earth with their cars. Can we say “hypocrite”, Al?

I realize there are a lot of people out there who disagree with me, and that’s fine. I just wish people would spend a little more time studying, and less time listening to hysteria from people who have figured out how to make a buck out of this.

Of course corporations and governments like people to focus on this, if you’re all excited and talking about global warming, then you stop paying attention to the atrocities that they are committing right now. The people in Darfur and Myanmar aren’t being killed by global warming. Global warming is not causing the wage decrease around the world. Global warming is not responsible for the people in Africa being refused medicines for HIV.

Maybe people could start getting excited about some of these things. Those they could do something about. Because you can try to stop the earth’s warming and cooling cycles, but I don’t think you’re going to succeed.
